Wild Boar 70.3 & OLYMPIC triathlon

The Wild Boar Triathlon returns to the Forest of Dean for 2026

Featuring a beautiful lake for your open water swim, changing rooms, secure bike racking, chip timing.

A fabulous bike route and a run that starts and ends with a run around the beautiful mallards pike lake.

45k Bike

10k Run

Middle Distance (Wild Boar 70.3) 

1900m Swim

90k Bike 

21k Run

 

This is a tough event with an incredible open water swim, very scenic bike & run routes, and safe transitions.

 

Event details and schedule:

Races will start:

8.30am 70.3

8.10am Olympic

The swim will be a floating group start.

 

Please arrive an hour before your start time to register on Sunday.

 

The swim will be wetsuit optional depending on water temp and you will be notified if this changes.

REGISTRATION

Registration will open at 6.00am and will remain open until 7.30am when briefing will take place at swim entry.

You will receive race chip to be worn on left ankle, a number for your bike & helmet, a race number for bike & run, and a coloured swim hat.
Once you have registered you can proceed to T1 to rack your bike and place your bike & run items.

Boxes & bags are permitted in transition area. ONLY ATHLETES are permitted in transition area.

SWIM

Wear a pair of trainers and leave at swim exit for the run to T1
It is likely to be a WETSUIT OPTIONAL SWIM

Swim will be a gun start 

The water safety team will be in the water and on the bank. If you are in difficulty roll onto your back and wave your hands for help or swim to the bank which will always be in close proximity

1hr 10mins cutoff to be finished on the swim

BIKE

Bikes are to be walked or run to the entrance gate where you can mount.
 
If you are doing 70.3 then the bike is 2 LAPS.
Do not turn into Mallards Pike but continue on lap 2 you can stop at the fuel station.

AID STATION: Pull into the layby to refill drink bottles with water provided - this aid station is for 70.3 riders only. You can leave your own fuel here pre race.

Bike dismount is at the entrance to transition and bikes must be pushed up to transition.

 

RUN

Olympic will do 2 laps of 5k starting with a run out of transition and around the lake 
70.3 runners will do 4 laps, starting with a run out of transition and around the lake.
